Fullerton's open-access fiber network

One fiber network, several internet companies. Here's how Fullerton's FiberCity works.

In 2019, SiFi Networks announced a privately funded, citywide fiber network in Fullerton. It uses an open-access model: SiFi builds and runs the fiber, and internet companies sell service over it. Ting and GigabitNow were named as partners when it was announced.

Why open access matters

  • More choice: pick among providers on the same fiber.
  • Easier switching: changing providers doesn't require new construction.
  • Competition: AT&T and Spectrum are also in Fullerton, so many homes have several fiber choices.

How to check your address

Check the providers' websites and the FCC National Broadband Map. Coverage filings show GigabitNow and Ting reaching large parts of the city.
